Like any other accessory in your wardrobe, perfume must be stored under certain conditions so that it does not lose its characteristics and can be used to its maximum potential. Each of us has searched or is still searching for the right perfume for our skin. We want the aroma that reflects our personality and gives us confidence when we use it, but nothing can be worse and more disappointing than when the chosen perfume does not last long enough. Whether you wear a single perfume, which represents you and has become your "signature", whether you like to change it depending on your emotional state, time of day, season or for any other reason you choose to do so, we will offer you some advice which will help you to put your perfume in value for a longer period, even for a few hours, regardless of its olfactory group.
We would like to mention that the results obtained differ from one person to another, but there are some secrets that definitely make the smell of perfumes more persistent and last longer, in most situations. Next, you will find out what are the characteristics of a quality perfume and some ways on how to use and where to apply the perfume correctly. These will help the smell of your favorite perfume to last for several hours, even after several years.
Moisturize your skin before applying perfume
The perfume lasts more hours on hydrated skin compared to dry skin. Before applying the perfume, use the lotion of the same perfume in the respective area, and if it is not available, use cosmetic vaseline, another unscented moisturizing lotion or one with a more subtle scent. By applying a moisturizing product without perfume on the skin, you will help your perfume to have a greater presence, the perfume not penetrating the pores of the skin, but rather clinging to the moisturizer used, resisting for several hours.
Apply the perfume to the pulse points of the body
The indicated areas to apply the perfume are: the lower wrists of the arms, behind the earlobes, at the base of the neck, the lower part of the elbows and behind the knees. Apply on at most 2 of these places because even if you are tempted, you don't want to exaggerate the smell felt by the people around you, some of them may be disturbed. Normally, the perfume does not have to announce your arrival, but it is better to be discovered in your presence.
Reapply perfume during the day
As the skin of the body also has disadvantages, despite the above, it can cause the perfume to evaporate faster than from fabrics and clothes or the blotter paper that you find in specialty stores or from other objects that do not emit heat .Sometimes you have the impression that the perfume is no longer doing its job and no longer smells on your skin, but at the level of the receptors, OLFACTIVE FATIGUE appears . Your olfactory receptors send an electrical signal to the brain when they detect a new smell, after which over time they will be busy discerning other smells and will no longer send signals to the brain, which is why you no longer smell the perfume in question. You can take the perfume with you by reusing it to refresh the smell. Many people have the perfume in their car, purse, satchel and reuse it throughout the day, some share this secret with others, others don't.
Allow the perfume to spread naturally into the skin
Do not try to "help" the perfume to enter the skin by rubbing the area where you applied the perfume, let it penetrate naturally into the pores of the skin and the aroma will last longer. Avoid rubbing your wrists together after application to prevent the scent from "crushing". By rubbing, the microscopic molecules of the perfume are broken, reducing its persistence and changing its smell. If you still want to transfer your perfume to the other wrist, for example, do it by lightly dabbing the wrists and not by rubbing them.
Perfume your hair
Applying perfume to your hair is a great way to leave a soft scent behind you throughout the day. Apply the perfume to your hair, but do not spray it directly, because the alcohol in its content can dry and degrade your hair. Spray on the hair brush or comb and wait a few seconds (so that the alcohol evaporates) after which you can comb without your hair being affected.
Store the container correctly
Like wine, perfume stored in unfavorable conditions loses its characteristics, changes its color, smell and the long resistance it had at the beginning. The perfume "feels good" in the dark, cool and dry places. Do not store it in direct sunlight or other sources of artificial light, in warm places and in places with high humidity, such as, for example, the bathroom in your home.
Good places to store perfumes:• free of moisture
Unfavorable places for storing perfumes:
• strongly lit (keep the products that give you their fabulous scents away from sunlight, neon lights, bulbs, spotlights, etc.)• with high humidity (most often we are tempted to store them in the bathroom where there is humidity and very often the temperature is high). DO NOT STORE CONTAINERS WITH PERFUME LIQUIDS IN THE BATHROOM!
Use the perfume and enjoy it
The temptation to save your favorite or most expensive perfume for special occasions is great, we all know that, but our advice is "use it and enjoy it!" because at some point it will expire like any other product. In general, the shelf life of a perfume is 36 months, but depending on the way of storage and other influential factors, the period estimated by the manufacturer can be changed.
Here are some tips for caution when using perfumes:
• the perfume does not taste good, so avoid using it in areas that can be affected by excitement. We do not think there is any point in mentioning that the perfume is not drinkable.
• do not shake the bottle because the air inside will break the molecules of the perfume, and it will lose its characteristics.
